Teacher of Singing Singing Voice Specialist Jenna F. Hairston, a native Texan, accomplished singer, performer, highly respected singing teacher, and singing voice specialist maintains a busy private Vocal Arts and Music Studio in College Station. With more than twenty-five years of teaching and music education experience, Jenna began her vocology training in 1984 at Sam Houston State University with private studies under Corre W. Brusse, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Music. B.M., M.A., Baylor University; M.M., New England Conservatory of Music; Ph.D., University of North Texas. With direction, advice, and encouragement from Ellen Faull, an American Operatic Soprano, of the Manhattan School of Music, Juilliard School, and co-founder of Portland State University’s Bel Canto Northwest Vocal Institute, Jenna continued her studies with Beverly Hoch, M.M. in Vocal Performance, Wichita State University,B.M., Oklahoma City University Undergraduate Studies, Friends University, and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music at Texas Woman’s University. Jenna’s performance experience includes, appearances as the leading soprano and guest solo artist with orchestras, choirs, churches, musical theater, Christian radio programing, and numerous community events as well as recitals. She has served as Music Director, Worship Leader, Choir Director, Children’s Music Director and has experience as a studio recording artist. Served as a music instructor with Covanant Children's, Instruments of Change Music team which traveled to in Haiti in July, 2011, for their 2011 Music Academy. Continues to serve as a Short Term Missionary with various ministries and charitable organizations developing music programs. She served as the private Teacher of Singing for Suzan’s School of Music in Bryan, Texas teaching primarily Singing, as well as Piano, and Flute until July 2012. at which time she opened her new private voice and music studio in College Station, Texas. Jenna combines her passion for helping people who have voice disorders with her extensive background as a teacher of singing to work in collaboration with medical professionals in the re-training of injured singing voices as a Singing Voice Specialist. As a Singing Voice Specialist with the Voice Care Team, Jenna provides voice evaluation and rehabilitation therapy to singers, actors, non-singers, and other vocal performers with voice injuries who are recovering from vocal surgery. She works closely with other members of the voice care team to determine optimal rehabilitation and recovery for patients being treated with voice problems, helping both professional and serious amateur singers return to functional ability. Subsequent related training includes: ● Ongoing Vocology training as a Singing Voice Specialist. ● Ongoing advanced training in the area of Voice Science . ● Ongoing advanced-level courses and continuing education through numerous Universities and professional organizations nationwide. ● Ongoing private vocal instruction with top professionals and teachers of singing. As a teacher of singing and music educator for more than twenty-five years, Jenna considers it a privilege to work with people to help them discover the joy of singing and to help them develop strong, healthy, vocal techniques. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), the Voice Foundation, The Voice and Speech Trainers Association, Inc. (VASTA) and The North American Music Teachers Association (NAMTA) .
